- Donating a total of 60 medical oxygen generators to the Indonesian government and Koreans living in Indonesia

- ‘K-LAB’ to support the PCR tests for COVID-19 free of charge to Korean residents in Indonesia who are 65 years and older

LX International has taken active action for the prevention of epidemics by donating medical devices in Indonesia where it experiences the severe spread of COVID-19.

On July 15, LX International announced that it will donate 60 oxygen generators to the Indonesian government and Korean residents living in Indonesia. Also, it will provide free COVID-19 tests to Koreans aged over 65 years old in Indonesia by using the K-LAB COVID-19 diagnostic facilities operated by the company. It is expected that such measures would be a great help to the medical fields of Indonesia that have been experiencing unexpected hardship from a lack of oxygen for medical care and a heavy increase in the demand for the COVID-19 diagnosis due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant.

 With the 4th largest population in the world, Indonesia is now facing a severely devastating situation because of the COVID-19 Delta variant which has recently resulted in more than 54,000 new confirmed cases on a daily basis. Indonesia has also recorded the highest numbers of daily new confirmed cases and deaths among the countries around the world. 

 To deal with such a problematic situation, LX International recently held a video conference with the health minister of Indonesia to discuss the donation of oxygen generators and decided to deliver a total of 60 devices for the following week. A total of 50 oxygen generators will be given to the Indonesian government (for medical institutions) and the remaining 10 will be delivered to the Korean society of Indonesia (for household use). Oxygen generators are essential for providing emergency medical services regarding COVID-19 as they are designed to supply oxygen for medical use. Due to the significance of the device, the Department of Health in Indonesia has been striving to secure as many oxygen generators as possible in the futile hope of fulfilling the extremely high demand.

 Moreover, LX International plans to support the PCR test for COVID-19 to Koreans aged over 65 years old in Indonesia for free of charge. Those who were born before 1955 will be able to receive the test at K-LAB which has been installed and operated by LX International.

 K-LAB is a COVID-19 diagnostic facility installed and operated by LX International in downtown Jakarta, Jakarta airport, and Bandung. The interior is designed to fully comply with the guidelines of the local ministry of health, and it offers high accuracy in the test results from the use of diagnostic kits and equipment made in Korea that have acquired global certifications. In addition, Korean medical technologists remain in the lab to manage the quality of testing, and the facility was recently designated as an official COVID-19 diagnostics lab by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Indonesia where people can examine their COVID-19 status when entering Korea.

 So far, LX International has already made donations on two occasions related to the pandemic to Indonesia. Starting with a quick donation of a substantial amount of COVID-19 diagnostic kits to Indonesia by CEO Yoon Chun-Sung accompanied by a letter to the president of Indonesia when the country was experiencing severe hardship due to the insufficient amount of diagnostics kits last March, in April, LX International had provided one K-LAB, which is a Korean mobile smart diagnostics facility, and assisted in the installation process all of which was free of charge to provide a one-stop examination and the analysis of COVID-19 testing in Sulawesi that is situated 3,000km away from Jakarta with a poor social infrastructure.

 Lee Chang-Hyun, Head of Indonesia Region Representative, stated that Indonesia is a strategic field of LX International where the company’s major businesses are concentrated. In receiving a lot of support from the local government and customers, he hoped that the cooperation provided by LX International would be of great help to the Indonesian government, people, and Koreans living in Indonesia who must all come together and strive to overcome this pandemic crisis.

LX International has launched diverse business fields in Indonesia including new renewable energy, healthcare, food, mining, etc. Specifically, the company was able to rapidly launch its healthcare business in the local Indonesian market by distributing the medical devices which was motivated by donating the diagnostic kit last year.
